Hypoallergenic dog food should consist of high-quality, few ingredients. We use monoprotein, so only one type of meat protein is in the food. We choose meat types/proteins that dogs in Germany usually have not been exposed to. Vegetables are also selected with this in mind. We avoid grains and gluten, rice, corn, soy, and do not use stabilizers, flavor enhancers, artificial preservatives, or attractants, so that the dog food is optimally digestible.

Calcium and phosphorus content

Calcium and phosphorus are not artificially added but come solely from natural ingredients. Since meat is not a standardized raw material with constant analytical values, the content varies between:

• 0.16 - 0.24% calcium
• 0.13 - 0.19% phosphorus

Feeding recommendation

400 g per day per 10 kg body weight. Please note: this is only a rough guideline. The actual feeding amount must be determined individually for each dog and adjusted to the actual needs according to age, breed, activity level, sex, neutered/spayed status, etc. We recommend checking your dog's weight against breed-specific values by age and size. Weigh your dog before switching food and initially feed approximately 2 weeks according to the guideline. If your dog is overweight or gains too much, reduce the amount; if your dog is underweight or loses weight unintentionally, feed slightly more.

Kangaroo meat in dog food

Kangaroo meat provides high-quality protein. It is especially low in fat, usually under 2%, and contains valuable omega-3 fatty acids important for the heart, as well as iron and zinc. It also contains important B vitamins, such as B12, B6, niacin, riboflavin, and thiamine.

Why kangaroo meat?

Most dogs in Germany have not been exposed to kangaroo meat and therefore have no risk of developing an allergy to it. Veterinarians often recommend kangaroo, as well as other meats like horse or goat, for allergic dogs.

Kangaroos live in the wild in Australia and are not farmed for consumption. Since the extinction of natural predators such as carnivores like the thylacine, kangaroos have no natural enemies. As a result, their population grows strongly, and farmers may request a limited number to be culled annually by state-approved hunters. Most of the harvested meat is exported, about 80% to Europe, especially Germany, Belgium, Denmark, and France.

Sweet potato provides valuable carbohydrates and vitamins

Sweet potato is an important source of vitamins E, A, and beta-carotene. It also contains vitamins C, K, and B-group vitamins. Sweet potato provides essential minerals such as sodium, potassium, magnesium, calcium, phosphorus, iron, and zinc. Additionally, it is an important source of valuable carbohydrates and fiber. The energy from sweet potato is released slowly, preventing strong spikes in blood sugar levels.

Milk thistle

Our wet dog food also contains milk thistle. Since the 16th century, milk thistle has been known as a medicinal plant for liver and gallbladder issues. For our recipes, we use the 7 mm long fruits, which contain the valuable silymarin. Silymarin can protect, strengthen, and detoxify the liver and is believed to stimulate bile flow, positively affecting digestion. The extract contains antioxidants that naturally protect the immune system against free radicals. Silymarin is not a miracle substance; nutricanis wet food uses a carefully balanced dosage to support natural liver function and promote your dog’s health sustainably with regular feeding.

Grain- and gluten-free

We avoid grains and gluten-containing ingredients to prevent possible intolerances and allergies. We do not use preservatives, artificial flavors, attractants, or sugar.
